Acronym: SSP

In the field of quality management, there are a large number of problem-solving approaches. The most famous approach, Six Sigma, focuses on fact and statistics-based continuous improvement of products, processes and even services.
The introduction of Six Sigma has revolutionized the use and scope of quality systems in manufacturing in today's corporate landscape.
A definition of Six Sigma cannot be given in just a few words, despite its clear, statistical origin, because the method encompasses problem solving on the one hand and focuses on optimization and cultural change in the company on the other. Six Sigma achieves this goal through the uncompromising use of sophisticated statistical and mathematical tools and a well-defined methodology that quickly produces significant results.

Lernziele

After completing the module, students will have basic knowledge of the "Six Sigma" methodology as well as alternative problem-solving techniques. By participating in the corresponding Practical Classes, students have the opportunity to transform their knowledge into practical skills. Due to the group structure in the Practical Class, the students are able to further develop their social, system and methodological competence. The application of practical methods, materials, tools and instruments within scenarios solidify the learned knowledge and allow the students to participate in an optimization project.

The module is divided into weekly lectures and three practical classes.

Target Group

Maschinenbau (Diplom & M.Sc.), Wi-Ing (Diplom & M.Sc.), BWL (Diplom), Economics (M.Sc. & B.Sc.), Produktionstechnik (M.Sc.). and further

Prerequisites

Profound previous knowledge in the field of quality management by attending the modules "Total Quality Management" and "Techniken des Qualitätsmanagements" facilitate the processing of tasks within the group and the understanding of the lecture.
For the exercises, conversational knowledge of the German language is desirable (group work).

Grading

The examination form for this module is a portfolio examination.


For this purpose, the partial performances listed below must be completed with the corresponding weighting.

Registration

The registration for the examinations is done via QISPOS until 30.05.2020.
If a QISPOS registration is not possible (reasons: diploma, free elective module, additional module) a timely registration must be made via the examination office.
In addition, the exam registration (yellow slip of paper) must be handed in at the secretary's office (PTZ 401) by 03.07.2020 at the latest.
